BACKGROUND AND TRAINING:  Jan Grady became interested in creating art a couple years before she retired from a career as an Information Technology Manager at Hewlett Packard.  She took classes in doing portraits in pastels and then developed a love for transparent watercolor.  She has studied with Floy Zittin in the Bay Area for the last few years and has taken numerous watercolor workshops from such artists as Oneida Hammond, Dale Laitinen, Christopher Schink, Jane Hofstetter, Doris Olsen, Ben Kudo, Jann Pollard, Lian Zhen, Robert Dvorak, Terry Madden, Marie MacDonnell Roberts, Carla O'Connor, Michael Atkinson, Donna Zagotta, Karen Frey, Mike Bailey, Judy Morris, Skip Lawrence, Susan Bourdet, Katherine Chang Liu, Mary Whyte, Don Andrews, Gerald Brommer, Barbara Nechis, and John Salminen.    

Jan is a member and past leader of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society and is also a member of the Fine Arts League of Cupertino and the Los Gatos Art Association.  She and her husband Bob Grady, who paints in oils, love to travel and get inspiration for their painting from the places they visit.

Jan's work is also available through Art Liaisons, art representatives, as well as the Artisan Shop in Menlo Park, Ca.  The Artisan Shop is located in the Court of the Potters at the Allied Arts Guild.  It features work by California artists in ceramics, glass, jewelry, needle work and other media.  The shop is operated by volunteers of the Woodside-Atherton Auxiliary, and proceeds from sales benefit the Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University.  The Artisan Shop and Allied Arts Guild are at 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.  Call (650) 325-2450.
